Goldman Sachs’ top diversity executive, Megan Hogan, is stepping down, according to Business Insider.
Hogan has been with the firm for nearly 12 years, onboarding as its head of Americas talent management, rising through the ranks to its chief diversity officer, and, in recent months, to its co-head of global co-head of talent. She will be joining Morgan Stanley after receiving “an amazing opportunity” in talent development, the outlet reported.
Lauren Uranker will soon be named the new head of talent development, engagement, and management at Goldman Sachs. She served as global co-head of talent alongside Hogan since 2025. Uranker will be tasked with AI-supported work, team growth, and employee retention and engagement. Her work will also still consider workplace inclusion, although DEI is not directly listed as a priority.
Hogan’s departure from Goldman Sachs comes as the firm has scaled back its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) commitments. As AFROTECH™ previously told you, it is updating its requirements for board candidates, which encompass viewpoints, background, work, and military service, but the diversity criteria, which fall under “other requirements,” is slated to be removed. This includes criteria such as race, gender identity, and sexual orientation, according to Business Insider.
“This is a reflection of the changing legal environment and adapting to the reality of those legal shifts,” a spokesperson for Goldman Sachs told the outlet.
The spokesperson added that Goldman Sachs benefits from “diverse perspectives and experiences,” and it will honor the law and continue to run programs intended to “attract the best talent.”
Goldman Sachs also removed certain DEI goals from its annual reports and said it would sunset “aspirational hiring goals” set in the years post-2020. It has also replaced DEI with DOI (diversity, opportunity, and inclusion).
JPMorgan Chase Chief Operating Officer Jenn Piepszak said in a memo that the shift better reflects the company’s approach to reaching more customers and fostering an inclusive environment, Fox Business reported.
