Aïda Moudachirou-Rébois is stepping down from her post at MAC Cosmetics.

The first makeup brand the Benin native used was MAC because the company was the only one to have her shade at a time when representation was few and far between, she told Marie Claire in a previous interview.

Moudachirou-Rébois built a career spanning more than 15 years at L’Oréal and at companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Revlon. She landed herdream jobwhen she joined MAC and appreciated its commitment to diversity, she told the outlet. She served as its senior vice president and global chief marketing officer from 2021 to 2024 and was promoted to its senior vice president and global general manager in 2024, according to her LinkedIn profile.

“As a marketer, I was watching MAC because it grew very fast from being a super small brand to becoming the No. 1 precision makeup brand in the world. And at L’Oréal, we were paying attention,” she said at the time of her appointment, according to Marie Claire. “It was a brand that I’ve always admired: I’ve seen them work on me, and I’ve seen them work on many people who were living outside of what the beauty standard was considered to be at the time. I believe in the brand values. So to be here now at the helm of the brand is kind of full circle.”

In her role, Moudachirou-Rébois led a community of 14,000 people and has worked with people from every region, she shared. MAC’s presence spans more than 90 countries and territories. Her team was tasked with innovation in go-to-market strategies, artist training, supply chain, and finances, she explained to Marie Claire.

Two years after the promotion, Moudachirou-Rébois is stepping down from her post, WWD confirmed. This comes after a number of executive changes at MAC and its parent company, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., under President and CEO Stéphane de La Faverie. It is unclear who will succeed Moudachirou-Rébois at the time of this writing, per the outlet.

This announcement also follows a $15 million operating loss for the quarter ending Sept. 30. 2025, which had marked new launches as well as increased consumer acquisition and brand awareness from its “I Only Wear MAC” campaign.” Additionally, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. reported a decline of 1% in makeup in its most recent quarterly earnings.

MAC is strategically expanding into select U.S. Sephora locations, including Sephora at Kohl’s, beginning in early 2026, according to a press release.

Moudachirou-Rébois shared a statement at the time of the October announcement.

“Together, MAC and Sephora share a core belief that beauty is for everyone, and this partnership reflects our mutual dedication to empowering all individuals to limitless self-expression,” she said in the news release. “We look forward to welcoming new consumers to the MAC community – a community which is highly inclusive, bound together by creativity and their love for makeup. We can’t wait to strengthen our connection with MAC fans across the U.S.”

MAC’s entry into Sephora is said to be an effort to lessen challenges in the business, per WWD.
